Erik Posted January 21, 2008 Author Posted January 21, 2008 Woah, thanks for all the replies :O Anyways, I forgot to mention one huge detail, under the actual killing everything is gonna freeze and the opera music will be raised in volume and put in front for a moment, so I don't know if anything subtle would do the trick really, so that's why I was asking for something intense. I haven't checked out all of the tips yet, but as of yet I haven't found what I wanted yet. So keep on giving me tips! Quote
tenor10 Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Try the finale of Don Giovanni, when the Commendatore come in at the end, "DON GIOVANNI!!!" There are some big chords and such. Next I would try... The Lacrimosa movement from Mozart's Requiem It has a nice bulid and a nice dramatic climax you might be looking for it. It might be cliche, but you could try Carmina Burana. If you want something more modern, then try John Adams Nixon in China, the whip her to death, and the tropical storm. My last idea would be the end duet of Carmen. Thank you for giving us that important piece of information, hope this helps. Quote
Yagan Kiely Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 Try the finale of Don Giovanni, when the Commendatore come in at the end, "DON GIOVANNI!!!" There are some big chords and such. The finale it 20 minutes long....If you really want something dramatic, maybe the end of Salome? If you want to try somethign suggestive, rather than in your face obviousness, maybe Ist ien Traum from Der Rosenkavalier. Maybe Un bel di vedremo from madama? Quote
Kije of Prokofiev Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 That changes everything. Arrigo Boito's Mefistofeles. The finale is INSANE. Samuel Ramey takes the role and ANNHILATES IT. he drowns out Faust, the entire chorus (looks like about 100 people) and the entire blaring pit. it is AMAZING. But may not work for this situation. I have no idea matey. God be wit ya. Macbeth? Verdi or Wagner. That's it i give up lol Quote
Erik Posted March 24, 2008 Author Posted March 24, 2008 Thanks for all the tips, I checked most of them and a lot of them were very good. The play is now finished and performed as well, and in the end I chose some different parts out of the Salome opera as background music, and it turned out real good, the killing scene was real intense! The play was a real success, and there were many who thought it was the best student play they'd seen in years. It was probably all because of your help, haha ;) Quote
