Mike Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 We have just created an anonymous survey targeted at our users which contains a variety of questions relating to the site. Topics include views on the general atmosphere, offered functionality, future direction, and many others. This is the first survey of its kind that we have run, and we would be extremely grateful if you could spare just a few minutes of your time to answer it. You can find the survey here: http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/survey.php?do=take&sid=28 Any problems should be reported either in this thread or directly to me. Quote
Dirk Gently Posted January 17, 2008 Posted January 17, 2008 I guess a 404 error would be counted as a problem ... unless you're still putting it up and I haven't waited long enough. Quote
Mike Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Try it now - copy and paste error on my part. :) Quote
Mike Posted January 17, 2008 Author Posted January 17, 2008 Thanks so much to the users who have responded thus far. We have received very close to 50 responses inside 3 hours, along with well over 150 clicks of the survey link sent via the announcement email. Once we are satisfied enough to close the survey, we will most likely publicise at least some elements of the findings, along with resolutions to combat any issues which we have been made aware of. Once again, thanks to everyone! :) Quote
robinjessome Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 ...thanks to everyone! :) :) Hope it's useful! Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I tried to answer as seriously and honestly as possible  I have a question though about how you will receive our answers: can you view entire, individual surveys or are the answers sorted by question so that you can only see the summative results? Quote
Romanticist Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I just as bob stole my cookie also answered as truthfully as possible, are there any changes in the website that you plan on doing as a result!!? Quote
chopin Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 Wow I did not expect this much feedback. At this time, we have 80 people who have answered the survey. Thank you everyone for participating. The survey was Mike's idea, and the answers will be very useful. So far from viewing the results, I am quite pleased in some areas, although it is clear in other areas, we are suffering. There are many things that shocked me about the demographics. Anyway, we will of course try our best to address any issues we have. Keep in mind there are major changes going to take place with the site, and your answers help us figure out our strengths and weaknesses. Like Mike has said, after we close the survey and analyze the responses, we will post the results. And the survey answers are all compiled into one page. For example, since 80 people answered the survey, and 2 did not answer their age, the ages are distributed from 1-78. Same goes for text answers. The multiple choice answers are composed into graphs. Romanticist Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I thought it was a bit too long, but at least it getting something done.. Quote
Alan Posted January 18, 2008 Posted January 18, 2008 I thought it was a bit too long, but at least it getting something done.. I thought it was the perfect length- not one of those seventeen-page surveys that some websites make you take before leaving, but seven pages of obviously relevant information, and for that I can do it and know what I am answering about and where my answers are going to go. The survey was a good idea, definitely! Quote
Mark Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Done, hope I've helped, and glad to see you mentioned the wiki ;) Quote
Anders Posted January 19, 2008 Posted January 19, 2008 Contrary to Mark, I hope my doing of ''it'' causes massive system breakdown but anyway... you're welcome. Quote
Mike Posted January 20, 2008 Author Posted January 20, 2008 Good to know we can count on such dedicated support. ;) Data continues to trickle in following the initial rush, which vastly surpassed my expectations. The general consensus appears to be that we are doing pretty well, but a few common themes of criticism have become apparent. Many of these didn't come as a surprise, which isn't necessarily a bad thing since that means we can confirm existing suspicions. The ones that did come as a surprise should help us to piece everything together in forming a coherent plan of action. Judging by the distribution of multiple choice answers, it seems a hard-core of a maximum three to four users took it upon themselves to "Strongly Disagree" with most positive assertions relating to the site. Fair enough, but unfortunately it is impossible to please everyone. Quite a few questions have also revealed split opinion, which while not exactly constituting black and white findings remains somewhat useful in itself. We're still mulling over what all the data means, and you can expect to see responses to what was said in the coming weeks. We haven't decided whether to reveal all/some of the raw data, but regardless, it is likely to be accompanied by a detailed analysis chartering the conclusions we have drawn. Quote
