scoring percussion

Recommended Posts

hey, i've just been composing a few pop songs here and there, and now i've decided the time is ripe for fleshing them out, ie scoring the percussion. generally my past compositions have all been in midi format, so i want to retain that, however i want more in my melodies than just a simple beat. (usually i utilise AnvilStudio and set an instrument channel to 10). i dont play any percussion at all, but i'd like to know how...

are there any tuts on the internet that could help me here?

Ps: i just reread my post and realised most of it was garbage that made no sense but the annoying header is reversing my decision to just click on that 'x' button in the corner :( chances are, someone will understand what i mean (hopefully)

pps: if you dont know what i mean download any pop song atm in midi format with sibelius or finale or something and check out the percussion score.

ppps: ok im not sure if pps and ppps even exist but the two contradict each other. whatever!

I don't quite understand- you said that you want more in your melodies than just a simple beat... do you mean to say that you want harmonic interest in place of a rhythm? Elaborate please.

I know PPS exists, but I have never seen anyone revert to PPPS before. :O
