Hey! Anyone play electric bass around here that can actually read music (not tabs) and can play some classical etudes?

I enjoy playing things by Bach, like the left hand on some of his "Well-Tempered Clavier" things. :D It's loads of fun to do this, and I think that people who play electric bass should learn some classical etudes, or at least some classical-like etudes. Like back when there was a "Bass Guitar" magazine I used to learn the things that Tommy Shannon gave which were model classical etudes.

So am I the only one? Oh yeah... string bass guys are invited too, but you have your own thread. I'm talking about the guys who don't play or choose not to play string bass. :D

Also, tell us all your favorite genre to play!

String bass? Do you mean upright?

As far as playing etudes on bass, one of the first full things I learned on electric bass was Bach's Chromatic Fantasy arranged by Pastorius, I guess you could count that as an excersise

And I do read music quite proficiently

Upright, string bass... beh, I've heard both.

Cool :D I was afraid I was the only one, I forgot to mention (and I will edit my first post) that any electric bass players should also tell their favorite style to play!

I play rock and metal, but since I always wrote out my parts on MIDI first I had to be able to read.
