Saiming Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I have suggested it in one of the threads in the Off-Topic sub-forum. Which is a reviewing template for the members of YC. It's aim is to make the average critique better. Since we have reviewers I think that it should naturally fall upon them to complete it. Thoughts? Quote
Mike Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 I suppose a review which followed a pre-existing template would certainly be better than nothing at all. The question is, how would we make users aware of such a scheme? One option could be adding a section about it to the Welcome page in the wiki, but this isn't the sort of thing people are going to memorise. It would probably need to appear persistently somewhere, albeit most likely with an option available to dismiss the information. Quote
Saiming Posted March 3, 2008 Author Posted March 3, 2008 Hmm, well why can we not test using the same approach as with the template for describing one's piece? Quite a few do follow it, not all but there are some. If not we can create a wiki "The Ideal Critique" or something in that manner. Quote
James H. Posted March 3, 2008 Posted March 3, 2008 When you click "Go Advanced" in the Quick Replay box, how about a small block of text with the outline/instructions appears above the text field, only seen on upload forums? Maybe even in the Quick Reply box too. Both with a "Hide" and "Show" feature. Quote
Anders Posted March 4, 2008 Posted March 4, 2008 OR!!! Create code that will split the ''Message:'' box into sections resembling those of a review, and when you click ''post'' the forum formats the individual boxes into an official, professional looking review??!?!?!!!!one   Quote

Saiming Posted March 4, 2008 Author Posted March 4, 2008 If I know the members of YC at all, which I do...something tells me this is going to, yes, up the quality of reviews sometimes, but the hurt the quantity, in that, people are straight up lazy. Adding the option to ignore it would solve the quantity of reviews, but then...it would be the same because hardly anyone would use it, I think. You are correct. Most YC members are lazy, maybe the Mikes could try and integrate a template that the Reviewers will make - like Anders mentioned. Although I doubt that will be an option. Quote
