Collaborn Visions Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 I want to request/suggest that compositions be made based on various visual materials. Is there a stand-out Forum other than this one where such a thread would be received well? Quote
Mike Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 So, music and film in other words? Or is the imagery static? Regardless, you might try Incidental Music and Soundtracks. Quote
Guest DOFTS Posted March 8, 2008 Posted March 8, 2008 Another idea is to listen to some people who do write "film" type music and ask them to compose something for you. Most people here are young enough that building up a resume is important and will do it for free. Quote

From static images presenting a sequential story, yes. Print and webcomics, specifically. Considering who you are, I will try there primarily, at least for this aspect of my purpose here. Thank you. Most people here are young enough that building up a resume is important and will do it for free. I'm not picky and I am very open-minded as a rule. In my opinion, any sort of music can be used in films. I am also trying not to be too optomistic. I hope for an enthusiastic and willing response from this community, but I do not count on it. Interest will depend largely on how inspiring the material is for various composers, of course. Action/Adventure, Suspense and Mystery should be good elements for that purpose. And interesting subjects and stories. I have very specific materials in mind, but I am aware I should not limit the options. I try to be smarter than I am... Quote
Guest DOFTS Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Haha seriously, don't be so serious. Just go out there and find a film composer on the form and ask them if they are willing to do some work. If not, no big deal, but in all likelihood, you'll find someone. Quote

I do not like bothering people. I perfer to "hook" volunteers because of their interest, not by pinning them to the side of the mailbox and perhaps making them feel that they need to deal with me. Not to mention locating someone is no picnic. I really am not picky, so unless a piece or composer is actually terrible in my opinion, I will have difficulty limiting my options. I want to be sincere in contacting just a few persons if I go about it personally, so that I can honestly say I prefer their works over others I have listened to and that I feel they have good potential and skills for composing in the field I need. My problem is I AM too serious. It is all about business with me... I do expect to find someone. Composers are largely an ambitious set and who doesn't want to compose for visual materials, at least on a one-time, experimental basis? Quote

You don't need a new forum for that... Unless I'm misunderstanding something... The trouble is, I have very specific concerns and I like things to be where they belong or where they will receive the greater exposure with hopefully positive benefits. Which means that several of my concerns might well require a thread in other forums. I understand this is probably a good general forum for most of my concerns, but at least a few of them might be better suited elsewhere. Thank you for the positive push, though. Quote
