goodridge_winners Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 What is your most favourite Chopin Nocturne and why? -also- What do you have to say about this: "I do not care very much for the F major Nocturne. (Op.15, No.1)" James Huneker. Quote
spherenine Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Erm, the posthumous one in C minor is good, as is Op. 9 no. 2. And everyone's entitled to their opinion. And zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz. Quote
goodridge_winners Posted April 2, 2008 Author Posted April 2, 2008 i love the one in E-flat major Op.55 No.2...mainly because I went to a summer school, and we sat in the masterclass of one of the students who was playing this piece...and she played it seriously like...100 times it just gets into your head. i love measure 58 (i had to count the measures coz my edition doesnt have measure numbers) thru to 62...that falling motivic motion in the right hand...its just sooooo beautiful. also...if anyone has listened to my Impromptu in C major (piano thread...its kind of old now)...the main theme (sadly) is a quote from this piece...and another one of chopins nocturnes...which i forget. If you look at the score in Op.55 No.2...bar 35 - 36 is pretty much my piece... i assure you though, i didnt know this until i listened to this piece performed...and i was like...crap...my piece pretty much rips chopin off. Meh, im glad i have a chopin idiom in my music...its a compliment to the master of piano composition. Quote
