cygnusdei Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Heard a snippet of the first movement on the radio - wow! There is a passage towards the end that really stands out; the chromatic rise and fall on the strings, and then repeated with contrary movements. I had never heard this passage before, being most familiar only with the Scherzo (second movement). The passage is somehow reminiscent to the Commendatore scene in Mozart's Don Giovanni K. 527 (Don Giovanni! a cenar teco m'invitasti). The harmonic progression is different though. Quote
Gardener Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 I love it! Plus, the second movement is where I finally really learned double-tonguing as a hornist. Some nasty passages in there. Quote
