132will Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Hi, I'm new here and I am studying for grade 6 theory with a teacher , we are using anne butterworths harmony book. I am also reading a big book on melody (and has a seciton on harmosing which I haven't got to yet) called melody in songwriting by Jack Perricone (Berklee Press). I am making simple melodies and hope to harmonise them soon using the SATB bach type stuff covered in the first sections of anne butterworths harmony in practise book. Is this a good way to start out? Quote
nikolas Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Any way is a good way to start really! There is no sure receipe for succees in composition, I'm afraid. I've no idea how old you are, and what your aims are, etc (which would be very important to know, but you can't really know until later in age (and still don't know what your age is). Still the one "advice" I could give you would be "NEVER stop composing!". You can have doubts, problems, whatever really, but don't stop composing! Why stop? Quote
SSC Posted April 29, 2008 Posted April 29, 2008 Why stop? To sleep? Or go pee, or poop? Don't tell me you... Quote
