Guest thatguy Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 learn theory first, you know, how notes actually go together and such. if you dont know that, it doesnt matter what software or hollywood effects you have. there are plenty of books out there as well as millions of sites to go to to learn. good luck ;) Quote
Arfus Posted May 5, 2008 Author Posted May 5, 2008 thanks could you recomend some books/sites for me? :D Quote
virtualshock Posted May 5, 2008 Posted May 5, 2008 try 8notes.com it has an easy and basic theory course as for incidental music what do you want to write for? Movies? Games? If so watch a movie and listen to the score, or play a game and listen to the music, listen! Quote
Arfus Posted May 13, 2008 Author Posted May 13, 2008 so i should start playing keyboard? in that case gonna find myself a piano teacher/keyboard teacher? is it the same? Quote
virtualshock Posted May 15, 2008 Posted May 15, 2008 well I am not really sure what you are saying but learning an instrument would definatley be a good idea. Quote
Omri Lahav Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 I'm gonna have to go against some of the advices given here. Learning music from books or sites is nice for some extra knowledge, but NOT as a means to accquire your musical basis! Get a teacher who'll set your mind straight and correct the mistakes that you *will* make along the learning process. If you learn from a book you may embrace wrong musical habbits and they'll be really hard to shake once you develop. Learning keyboard is a great idea! Omri. Quote
