oboeducky Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I'm looking for new music to play at my oboe/english horn recital at interlochen this coming fall. If anyone's interested in writing a piece for me, that would be awesome. I'm going to have a piece of mine on the recital too, and I don't want it to be a lone random new thing when I'm playing the masterworks :) The piece would be credited to the composer (duh!) and a recording will be made and posted. I'm looking for anything written for oboe or english horn, either with or without piano. Thanks guys. Quote
Marius Posted May 7, 2008 Posted May 7, 2008 I've actually got the perfect piece for you. I'll find it and pass it along. It's difficult, but hopefully you'd enjoy it...remind me via PM or something if I don't give it to you within the next day or two. :) Quote
oboeducky Posted May 7, 2008 Author Posted May 7, 2008 No preferences whatsoever. :) I'll take whatever you throw at me. Quote
Flint Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 I'm definitely interested... might I ask what you're playing for the remainder of the recital? (if you have any chosen at the moment, of course) Quote
oboeducky Posted May 8, 2008 Author Posted May 8, 2008 Well. I have a lot of repertoire to choose from but I'm not sure exactly except for the starred ones. (pardon my notes :p) EDIT: I'm for sure doing: Poulenc - Sonata Bozza - Lied for English Horn Paladilhe - Concertante (it's rare, here's the only recording I could find on the entire internet) Quote
Flint Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks for responding so quickly! Suggested length? Quote
Daniel Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Don't play the Cimarosa! It's so boring... How long would you want to have to practise the piece? (i.e., a deadline of sorts) Quote
Flint Posted May 8, 2008 Posted May 8, 2008 Thanks for giving me a nice little poke in the inspiration. (hrm, mixed metaphor) Do you mind if the piece is humorous? Quote
oboeducky Posted May 9, 2008 Author Posted May 9, 2008 Well, it's going to be in the fall, probably in october or maybe november if I can't get a date. I'll most likely have 3 weeks of practice with piano and all summer without it. I don't care if it's humourous either :) Quote
Daniel Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 Hmm so if it is oboe & piano, the pianist has 3 weeks to learn it? Also, I assume you don't mind getting more than one thing sent to you from YCians? [/question bombardment] Quote
SimenN Posted May 11, 2008 Posted May 11, 2008 I would like to write som music for you, if you like classical/baroque influenced music. Quote
oboeducky Posted May 12, 2008 Author Posted May 12, 2008 Hmm so if it is oboe & piano, the pianist has 3 weeks to learn it?Also, I assume you don't mind getting more than one thing sent to you from YCians? [/question bombardment] The pianist will have about 3 weeks to learn it, yes, but the accompanists are professional players, so whoever does it will do a great job. Actually, the more the better to choose from :) Quote
Daniel Posted May 12, 2008 Posted May 12, 2008 Great. :) Await my attempt then. (And probably one from flint too!) Quote
oboeducky Posted August 6, 2008 Author Posted August 6, 2008 K I have some of the multiphonics I promised on my esnips: OH. BOE. eSnips Folder I'm writing out a fingering chart with the written tones, and that should be done later today. Quote
