Gijs Posted May 17, 2008 Posted May 17, 2008 Hello all, I've been thinking about the possible employment of compositionary techniques, within tonality, and i'm wondering if anybody knows of a composer or composition which is based on free-counterpoint. And free meaning here that there are two or more melodic voices which are of equal importance(as seen with Bach and contemperaries) but written in a more romantic, impressionistic way, written by a "younger" composer. I can't seem to find anything, so i'm hoping some of you have some suggestions. Gijs Quote
Guest QcCowboy Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Well, there are lots of examples of contrapuntal writing in the 20th century. For example Hindemith wrote very contrapuntal music. Quote

Guest QcCowboy Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 and a brilliant set of preuldes and fugues called Ludus Tonalis, for piano (a lot of fun to play, actually.. the prelude and postlude of the entire thing are actually perfect inverted retrograde mirrors) Quote
