Max Castillo Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Know of any good sites with free orchestral scores? I'd like to study them. Quote

Max Castillo Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 Oh, searched the forum but didn't find that thread. Thanks, too bad it's mostly piano sheet music though. I'll try some torrents, already found a couple of film music scores. Quote

Check out university libraries, even public libraries can usually get things brought in. Or even *gasp* don't be so cheap and actually buy them... Whatever you do, don't broadcast your thievery please. Quote

robinjessome Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Like you do in the shoutbox? ;) Oooooh! I've never actually claimed any piracy - I may imply it, and certainly can't deny that I indulge... ALSO, I'd never use it as a sole means of acquiring music or scores; generally as a last resort for things that are hard/impossible to find, or simply too far beyond my current financial means. ;) :whistling: Quote
Musicthor Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 Every score written by Mozart is now online at: NMA Online Neue Mozart-Ausgabe: Digitized Version This should be the English version of the site. Quote
jujimufu Posted May 18, 2008 Posted May 18, 2008 IMSLP will be back online after the 1st of July, and before it went down it had some 15,000 scores which were available legally for free. So, if you think you can wait, definitely go and check that website :) It's definitely worth it, I give you my promise. Other than that, you can try mutopia-project.org, the werner-icking archive, and the choral-something archive. I can't remember the exact links, but if you google them they should come up (don't be too much of a lazy-donkey :P ) Quote
Max Castillo Posted May 18, 2008 Author Posted May 18, 2008 IMSLP is going to be back?? No way! :o Awesome, I thought it was gone for good. I used to rely on it. Quote
jujimufu Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 How come you thought it was down for good? Since the first moment it was down, Feldmahler said there were efforts being done so that IMSLP will be back as soon as possible, and there were frequent updates in the forum and mailing list. But I guess you were only relying enough on it as long as it was up, and didn't care much about it after it was down..? :X Anyway, it is coming back, on the 1st of July, and this time for good :D Quote
Max Castillo Posted May 19, 2008 Author Posted May 19, 2008 Did it have orchestral scores though? I mainly downloaded piano sheet. Quote
jujimufu Posted May 19, 2008 Posted May 19, 2008 Oh yeah! It had all the Beethoven symphonies, lots of Haydn and Mozart symphonies, Brahms and Schumann (and concerti by all of them too). It had loads of piano reductions of these scores, mainly because they are easier to scan, but there were also orchestral scores (btw, those names aren't the only ones which had orchestral scores - before it went down it listed some 1,000 composers :O ) Quote
