SSC Posted June 20, 2008 Posted June 20, 2008 Where to start? I love pop music. I think such mass-oriented simplicity has its charm. That being said, the are tons of things that really aren't neither here nor there. Say, Air for example, or the acid jazz crowd, there's a lot of mixing going on. I also love rock and all the permutations to some degree or another. Stuff like bad religion (more punk-ish tho) or AC/DC, I dig. Though there are way too many groups to name (filter, rage against the machine, NiN, etc..) I like the individual spins on simple formulas. Plus there's stuff like Pink Floyd and Queen, which are sort of hard to label. I like'em anyways tho. Then there's the whole "other" side, which is the million types of jazz, bossa, cumbias, etc etc, which I think is pretty cool too. It's different, but different is cool. :> Then there's game music(!) which I'm particularly obsessed with, in fact right now I'm listening to the KOF96 AST, haha. Go SNK! I'm also a huge fan of electronica, with peoples like Chemical Brothers or Daft Punk, Cold storage, Prodigy, Underworld, Sasha, always somewhere on my playlists. There's way too much music to include into just this post, but I like stuff from just about every corner I can think of, from Avril Lavigne to Tom Jobim, Frank Zappa, and everything in between. Oh, notable mention to Jimi Hendrix, cuz you can't talk about this without mentioning good'ol Jimi. Did I mention I love Blur? So, name stuff you dig, discuss! And let's bury that other goddamn thread full of unnecessary hate and nonsense. Please. :< Quote

SSC Posted June 21, 2008 Author Posted June 21, 2008 I recommend a Swedish band named Kent. Though, I'm more of a fan of their "Isola" album. They're sort of like, hmm. Dunno, think Keane mixed with Radiohead and the Verve. http://youtube.com/watch?v=d10udCRqTBw And, of course, I'm always going to be recommending Capsule! Goddamn fantastic jpop/jtechno/j...etc group. Very varied stuff, including jazzy/technoey, and all in between.
