SSC Posted July 7, 2008 Author Posted July 7, 2008 I see it, but I'm just sayin' that Trent Reznor's voice should give depth to the lyrics by virtue of the fact that he's the one who wrote them. ;) Well, sure. I'm not saying the contrary, but just talking about the pure ring to it. Trent's isn't.. hm. Dunno. I have nothing against him and I actually like NiN and all, but the song just sounds totally different so it's hard to really compare. Plus, well, I guess in the context of Cash it totally still makes sense. The lyrics I mean. Quote

Sigur Ros Pixies Queen ROXETTE Clearwater Arcade Fire Bob Dylan NirVAna Les Savy Fav Dodo's Bon Ivir Acoustic Ladyland ----- And on the subject. Britney has, in my opinion, a fantastic team behind her. Say what you will, but to pull an album out of her broken image with a song titled "give me more" is pure genius. Lamentable, but still. Quote
Mahlerite Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Yes Sigur Ros Queen Travis Gomez Pink Floyd (a few albums at least) Radiohead-- In response to a (much) earlier post, they definitely have acknowledged classical influences, all the way from Hector Berlioz to Olivier Messiaen. Didn't know that about the Tristan chord, I'll have to try and find it  Someone mentioned Nickel Creek -- Chris Thile is absolutely incredible. I honestly haven't heard a lot of Nickel Creek, but I saw the Punch Brothers live just recently and their album is fantastic as well. Bela Fleck is great too. Quote
Nathan Madsen Posted July 31, 2008 Posted July 31, 2008 Yes- I LOVE Sigur Ros! :) Good pick! This isn't pop - it's grunge but I love this recording- unique for Nirvana. :) Sorry for the bad recording: Nirvana Oh Me Nirvana Plateau I also love Pearl Jam's Immortality. I've got to get back to work- but I'll add more (in other genres) that I like as well. Nate Quote

Just the story itself helps lift some of the mediocre music in the show, however the good music in the show is quite tats. Quote
SSC Posted August 2, 2008 Author Posted August 2, 2008 Welcome to the N.H.K, one of the most awesome things I've seen lately though it's pretty depressing. Oh. I post cuz I love the intro song, yea. Quote
robinjessome Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Ever since I stumbled upon Fantasma in '97 I've loved Cornelius (aka Keigo Oyamada)... Sensuous - check out the stunning visuals!! Also: A wildly diverse and talented musician... Runs the gamut from techno/electro/J-pop to minimalist/maximalist classical, to folk rock...and everything in between... Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Cornelius is NUTS. Have you heard of (Yujio) Dill? Quote

Flint Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 I'm a huge fan of Manhattan Transfer... they are *all* over the place - bland pop, jazz, vocalese, even some country cr4p. They are completely unafraid of dissonance. Trust me, it takes skill to sing entire passages a minor second away from other people - on purpose! LOVE to sing along. Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Yeah, his "Dance Music for Contemporary Butoh..." album is pretty killer... every song is pretty awesome MySpace.com - dill - JP - Electronica / Rock / Jazz - www.myspace.com/yujidill Quote
