Jon Posted July 3, 2008 Posted July 3, 2008 I can only reach a ninth on both hands. I'm only 14!! Quote
Max Castillo Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 A 12th but with hitting unwanted nearby notes, does that count? If not, an 11th easily. Quote
Guest thatguy Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I'm 6'3"....I have some reach but...usually music written for wide stretches is too hard for me... Quote
Mitchell Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I can get a 9th with ease, and an 11th if I stretch. Quote
RadonUlzer Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I have small hands - an octave is all I can do easily, I can get a ninth without a huge effort, and a tenth if I have ten seconds to rearrange my hands...Strangely, not many composers write ten second rests. Quote
goodridge_winners Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 I can only reach a ninth on both hands. I'm only 14!! *throws party* :whistling: lol im only being a jerk. good job (your achievement). maybe you will get rachmaninoff hands...when you are 15?!?!?!?! Quote
sterilium Posted July 13, 2008 Posted July 13, 2008 A 9th is as far as I can go on the piano, and that's pretty much a stretch for me (I have small hands). Octaves are the most reasonable stretch I can go without compromising my performance. If I have to go farther than 9ths. I have to break the notes apart, kinda like detached octaves. At least Jon's hands will get bigger in time. I'm an adult so my hand span is pretty much fixed. Quote
Engineered Composer Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Two octaves with the same finger.....I WIN! Quote
Dan Gilbert Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Can I nominate this thread for the "most boring thread ever" award? (By the way, 10th comfortably, 11th uncomfortably. Like....everyone else.) Quote
Engineered Composer Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Can I nominate this thread for the "most boring thread ever" award?(By the way, 10th comfortably, 11th uncomfortably. Like....everyone else.) I second the motion. Motion passes for parliamentary vote, all in favor...? Quote
Engineered Composer Posted July 14, 2008 Posted July 14, 2008 Aye... yi yi yi yi yi.... The aye's have it. It's official: "MOST BORING THREAD EVER" Quote
goodridge_winners Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 lets talk about cheese, and our experiences of eating it whilst it was 'off'. Quote
Pieter Smal Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 10th... (thus from C to E') working on 11th stretch though. Quote
Engineered Composer Posted July 15, 2008 Posted July 15, 2008 lets talk about cheese, and our experiences of eating it whilst it was 'off'. I once composed a piece written entirely with spray cheese and wax paper. It was orchestrated for mouse choir and angry cat...it had one premiere...tragically. Quote
Zetetic Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I can play an octave and a third fairly comfortably, an octave and a fourth at a stretch. Quote
Engineered Composer Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 I can play an octave and a third fairly comfortably, an octave and a fourth at a stretch. I'm sorry, I think you misunderstood that we're now talking about cheese. The good, the bad, and the stinky. Quote
goodridge_winners Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 i like blue vein cheese. i microwaved it on something once...and disliked it immensly! i spelt that wrong, im sure. Quote
Mr Lex. Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 Blue vein cheese is good. Though I prefer Kefalograviera more at this point in time....although it doesn't smell too flash hot when you forget to put it back in the fridge and find it a few days later Quote
Guest QcCowboy Posted July 16, 2008 Posted July 16, 2008 sometimes I wish my hands reached far enough to wrap them around someone's neck and choke really hard.... alas, 'tis the internet. Quote

Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I might be able to hit an octave... but I make no bones about my crappines... on a bass guit I've got maybe a 6-fret range, with bad intonation Quote
Tokkemon Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 The best cheese is Jarlesburg! Yay Norway! Quote
Mahlerite Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 10ths comfortably, stretch to most 11ths. Seems to be the case for most of us. Quote
