CaltechViolist Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 The ideal ensemble, for me, is the piano quartet, and even though I haven't actually finished a piano quartet I've already put more time into writing for piano quartet than any other ensemble. (It's the difficulty I have writing anything for piano that gets in the way.) For minutes of music produced, my #1 ensemble is orchestra with soloist - and all of that so far is for horn and chamber orchestra. Quote
Thomas Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Full symphonic orchestra. Love it to bits. Working on my first symphony (fourth movement finally cracked, almost finished!). Going to work on a symphonic poem next and probably a large scale concerto after that. God, there's a lot of work there for me! ;) I like also writing pieces for piano and a solo instrument. I find that interesting, allowing the piano to take an accompanying seat and allow the soloist to express the melody and all of that. Quote
chopin Posted February 17, 2006 Posted February 17, 2006 Solo piano, because I like to write expressive music, and I just have a difficult time expressing myself any other way. I am terrible at orchestral writing. Quote
Chad dream eyes Posted February 20, 2006 Posted February 20, 2006 Orchestral because I finish chamber works to darn fast... Plus Orchestral works takes alot of planning,You have to really hear it in your head to make it work right. (plus it is easy to hide mistakes :P ) Quote
