I need something beautiful to play on my trumpet. The difficutly does not matter, as i will work to learn it  It should be something worthy to play in church, but does not have to be a hymn or anything spiritual. It just needs to be something that someone can sit back and relax to, or maybe even bring a tear to their eye. I'm not asking anyone to write anything, i'm just looking for suggestions for something to perform. Anyone?

Try the 2nd movement of the Hummel concerto. Trumpet Voluntary is good as well.

Great idea! Come to think of it, the 2nd movement of the Haydn concerto might also work. The accompaniment doesn't really add much.

To clarify since I've seen it used twice now seemingly referring to a particular work: trumpet voluntary is more or less an entire genre--a voluntary for keyboard instruments, with trumpet imitations, fashionable in 18th century England.

And then this thing is apparently often known as the "Trumpet Voluntary", so I guess that's what has been referred to here. It was also a keyboard work originally, but is better known today through arrangements.

You have options.

Quiet City by Aaron Copland (if you can get an English Horn (cor anglais)) and piano to play with you

Bach's Air for trumpet (BWV 1068) - its normally played on a flugel horn

Legende by Enescu

Quatro Pezzi for trumpet can be extremely cool by Scelsi (ex. YouTube - Scelsi: Quatre Pieces Pour Trompette-Mvt I. | Chris Coletti)

You can play all 4 together. Another common performance seems to be 1 and 2 break then 3 and 4

Now comes something that probably hits the mark exactly.

Theo Charliers Du Style number 2 from his book of etudes.

:) it is a great piece.

I love "Trumpeter's Lullaby" The trumpets at my school actually had to play that for a competion...solo and ensemble... If you want though, I'd be helpful to help you. I actually have a trumpet piece already written.

I definately agree with flint-wwrr on Quiet City.

- yes you would need the Cor Anglais and Piano but I it's a lovely calm piece and it would be worth it. When I heard this performed, it was by a Cornet rather than a Trumpet. Not sure which it was written for, but the cornet sound blended well with the other instruments. This could be down to individual players but may be worth considering if you have previously played Cornet?

Also as J. Lee Graham suggested, the 2nd movement of the Haydn concerto sounds like just the thing!
