06percussion10 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 To some degree, I think that you're right. You can learn a lot of things but perserverance to keep trying and to keep with something, that takes more than many people have in todays world. We're used to being given our way and having whatever we want. Music isn't like that. Sometimes things that people see as being ugly, musicians or artists, see as beautiful and precious. Quote

Well a lot of people ARE lazy~ Quote
06percussion10 Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 That's the thing. Lazy people aren't inspired by almost anything. We as musicians must learn to free our minds and think about things that we normally wouldn't. Sometimes, if I am not inspired, I meditate and think about things that I would never think about on a normal basis. Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 I read science journals - they often go over my head, but to see some sort of bliss in equations provides at least interesting ideas Quote
chodelkovzart Posted August 21, 2008 Posted August 21, 2008 sometimes i force myself to think of ideas and end up with really good ideas. inspiration is optional. people always want to be inspired because it makes them feel so......inspired. Quote

Sometimes, try to use the equations to "formulate" the entire piece. Take a variable that is talked about and allow it to become an instrument. Then take others and do the same. The product of the equation, in turn, will be your finished piece. Quote
