IMO one of the most fascinating violinists ever, though his career was extremely short lived. He was admitted to an asylum at 18 due to schizophrenia and never played again. Nevertheless his intense, passionate tone caused Kreisler to say 'a Heifetz comes every 100 years, a Hassid every 200.'

By far my favorite Hassid recording is that of the Hebrew Melody by Achron. All his suffering and passion speak through the violin and straight into your heart: it's magical. I only wished he had lived longer.
