Carlly Clabby Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Okay, So, there is one movement in my symphony that will incorporate the arrival and actions of the military. I would like to know, what sort of rhythms and melodies would you guys say suggests that the military has arrived and are taking care of a threat? If you listen to Steven Reineke's Symphony No. 1, New Day Rising Mvmt. 3, that is the type of feeling I want. <----The military-like melody and rhythm come towards the end; you can fast foward to that part if you want. I really need the help of fellow young composers. Thanks a lot for the help. Peace, C.L. Winston:toothygrin: Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Well yeah, a march rhythm would work perfectly. I'm not totally sure what you're going for from what you've said - but there are some avenues. The first way would be hymn-like writing over th march rhythm; this should give a sort of old-timey sense. I'm not sure how you want to spin the arrival of the military, but I'd assume a level of chaos in the melody and rhythmic blasts for mortar fire or something... I'm just grasping at straws here, hope it was helpful. Quote
