Marius Posted September 23, 2008 Posted September 23, 2008 I don't know how many of you have seen or even heard of this fairly recent film, but I rented it this weekend and had a blast with it. First of all, it has Jackie Chan and Jet Li in it. Both. In the same movie. Enough said. The soundtrack caught my attention though because it's an absolute joy to listen to. Think Kung Fu Panda meets Pirates of the Caribbean meets Transformers with occasional nods at Mulan and even The Mummy and you'll have an idea of what this baby's like. So that means any anti-Media Ventures folks should toddle away from this thread double-time at this point, since this soundtrack is like Asian Anathema to you. More open-minded listeners or those whose tastes are still willing to accept an uncomplicated and blatantly fun score will want to take a listen to the following little samples that YouTube has for us. The Mountain of Fruit and Flowers China Begins Tea House Battle Ni Ching and her Cult Killers The score is composed by David Buckley, by the way, who you will of course recognize from such classics as "Buckley? WTF?" and "Dick-All By David". The score is over-produced by an obscure Scandinavian composer/lobster cleaner by the name of Harry Gregson-Williams, and some pretty clear stylistic influences are evident to educated listeners. Enjoy! Quote
chodelkovzart Posted September 24, 2008 Posted September 24, 2008 i watched the movie, but i didnt really concentrate that much on the soundtracks because i had to focus so much trying to understand Jet Li's enligsh.:P Quote
Marius Posted September 24, 2008 Author Posted September 24, 2008 Yeah, that's understandable. To be honest, I was more just paying attention to Jackie Chan. He's one of my favourite people on the planet. Comes off as extremely charismatic. Quote
