neal123454 Posted November 14, 2009 Posted November 14, 2009 Well, this statement is hard enough to buy just in consideration of Rite of Spring versus Ameriques but impossible when taking into account their entire bodies of work.Listen to some late Varese like Deserts or Nocturnal and tell me there are any similarities between Varese and Stravinsky. I only was referencing Ameriques. And specifically the introduction. Quote

Yachar Posted December 5, 2009 Posted December 5, 2009 So... the resident prog freaks strikes again. This time one of my favorite pieces at this moment is this little piece by Sven Grünberg - now an accomplished electronic and soundtrack composer, but at his youth led the short-lived progressive rock group "Mess" which was Probably the first symphonic prog act in the Soviet Union. They only managed to record about 4-5 pieces though :( Quote
Nacnud Posted December 31, 2009 Posted December 31, 2009 The 12 days after Christmas  I've recently discovered how amazing tchaikovk'ys symphonies really are, his 5th is like OMG SO EPIC and his 6th is almost as if tchaik put every drop of his soul and all his emotion into it. :( the ending is really sad. But its still amazing. Oh and Dvorak is also really good, hes definitely an underappreciated musical genius, in music class everyone knows of mozart and beethoven and bach, but everyone was like "huh, who is dvorak" (they pronounced him wrong as well :P).
