Majesty Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 Here's the making of the film "Amadeus". We all know the film unfortunately wasn't the most accurate but the making is quite enjoyable. Its in 6 parts YouTube - Amadeus - The Making off - 1/6 The other parts of course are off to the right..enjoy. Quote
DrPangloss Posted October 18, 2008 Posted October 18, 2008 It was never intended to be accurate. That's why there are three different versions with three different endings. The point was to take two historical figures with an intriguing relationship and create good drama out of it. And his use of the music as part of both Mozart and Salieri's lives is brilliant. It's one of the greatest achievements of contemporary drama in my eyes. If it were eligible for the Pulitzer, I think it could have won it. Quote
Nightscape Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 It is true that "Amadeus" is a work of historical fiction. I don't think it was supposed to be an accurate biography. "Amadeus" is a great film and everyone should see it. Quote
Guest QcCowboy Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 People, I hope, are aware that it was actually a play before it was a film, right? Quote
Nightscape Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 Yes, I am aware of that. However, most people do not have the means to see it in play form, and so I am thankful for the movie. (I'm not really a play person anyway.) Quote
Majesty Posted October 19, 2008 Author Posted October 19, 2008 My purpose for mentioning the inaccuracy of the film in the title is simply because there are young musicians who believe that the film is accurate and I'm sure there might be some on this site. I shared the clips of the "Making of" because I enjoyed them and thought others would find them interesting and enjoyable as well. I do say that the film "unfortunately wasn't the most accurate" because it would have still been possible to tell a great story of intrigue and drama by play or film and still be accurate. Quote
DrPangloss Posted October 19, 2008 Posted October 19, 2008 People, I hope, are aware that it was actually a play before it was a film, right? That's what I meant by "three versions." Shaffer re-wrote the ending of the play after the movie was made, and the movie has a different ending than the original play has. I have an old copy of the script and a new copy, but I have yet to read them side by side and see how they match up. Quote
SSC Posted October 20, 2008 Posted October 20, 2008 Inaccurate or not, I thought the movie was fun to watch. Quote
