Greg Smith Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I would probably shoot anyone who wrote a piece in Cbb major. Cry about it Quote
spherenine Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 The major third is strongly implied by the overtones of the 1+5+8 power chord. :PA (..................................major) ? I just kinda take issue with three whole sharps in my key signatures. I use plenty of minor third to balance out the C#, ya know? I'd accept two sharps, but the third implies the music is too nursery-rhyme. Quote
spherenine Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Cry about it Who the gently caress are you? Quote
Austin Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 Eb major and Db major, both mellow and B minor (dark) E major for arranging things on guitar  Quote

Sharp-elevens are nice too. If you wanna be bold about it, throw in a flat-nine... it seems to have this stunning effect on some people that I've never been quite able to fully explain. :musicwhistle: Quote

If they were all major triads, then it'd basically be the Ewoks' victory theme from ROTJ. Quote
penguinsbyc Posted December 31, 2008 Posted December 31, 2008 I am quite partial to Bb minor as of late. Just hit all of the black keys along with C and F, its great! For a major key, Bb is always nice, as is Ab..... This is all mostly coming from an improvisation perspective on the piano. And A minor is just too easy..:D Quote

Sharp elevens are as common in hair metal as they are in Baroque music. Quote
Nirvana69 Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 Well, I'm a hair metal guitarist, so my favorite key is A. Not major or minor, either. Just A. A with a strong I chord, but also with gobs of bVI and bVIIs. Oh yeah. No love for E Minor? :sadtears: Quote
SimenN Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 My fav is G Major and D minor! :) good keys to play on the piano, and i like to write in those keys aswell! Quote
Bradley_Strong Posted January 2, 2009 Posted January 2, 2009 C major and G minor i also like c minor and a major alot to i love all those D major too actually lol i like alot of keys more major keys for minor only c and g Quote
spherenine Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 No love for E Minor? :sadtears: E has a strong hold on second, but A is definitely best for me. Having the bVI and bVII on a lower string is always helpful, and I don't have a seven-string. Quote
James H. Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 Major: Db Minor: Gm Mode: F lydian, D dorian, A lydian I find it startlingly amusing to evaluate the results ... it appears Eb major is THE most popular key so far (not including my own preference). Db major and D minor are tied for a close second. (AHAHA, a minor second, to be exact... hahaha... wow) Three people chose both Eb major and D minor together. Three people choose keys with the same root, two people chose relative keys. Two people prefer not using keys. Two people prefer minor over major. D is the most common root (and Eb is second. Again... a minor second. ) Quote
Henk Vogel Posted January 3, 2009 Posted January 3, 2009 My favourite key is C# minor, definitely. My favourite major key, ehm, Eb Major of Bb Major, or.. I'm not sure. Quote
Mathieux Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Favorite Major: Eb major Favorite Minor: definitively C# minor, but I tend to write in G minor and A minor a lot. Major: DbMinor: Gm Mode: F lydian, D dorian, A lydian I find it startlingly amusing to evaluate the results ... it appears Eb major is THE most popular key so far (not including my own preference). maianess Posted January 4, 2009 Posted January 4, 2009 Oh Gods, I'm a horrible musician. ...C major. .......Well, all the others have too many black keys to improvise in!!! ::shuffles away:: Quote
Berlioz Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 C minor, G minor, F major, A major, D major. Quote
pedalpoint Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Major: E major Minor: B minor, A minor, F minor I'm more partial to minor keys. :) Quote
Ethan Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 This is an impossible question. It depends on my mood I think, but a lot of times I prefer soloing in keys with fewer accidentals. ;) Quote
Edgar Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 I think B minor is my favorite key all around. I also partake to F minor and E major. And I love the concept of D flat minor. Quote
spherenine Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Who the hell writes in Db minor? Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 Who the hell writes in Db minor? A nu-metal band that can't tune their guitars? Quote
jawoodruff Posted January 13, 2009 Posted January 13, 2009 fav major: E major fav minor: tie between c minor and f minor fav mode: dorian fav overall: any that makes me weigh less! Quote
