Pieter Smal Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 "I hope you like the rings! Yeah... coz lets face it: you bought it!" (In an airballoon in the evening:) "Are you looking at the stars or are you looking at my rings? "You are so generous... I sometimes feel bad about taking the money! But I'll take it anyway!" "I really like that standin' up business! That's a nice compliment! It gives you a change to straighten out your shorts!" "Liberace (refering to his rings, diamonds and glitter): I would never forget Mae West when she said: Too much of a good thing... is wonderful!" Walter Valentino Liberace (Lib - er - ah chie) was the greatest "classical music" entertainer since Liszt (and perhaps the richest too!) Making his debut on stage and television, he charmed millions of people around the world with his gold, diamonds and charm! Although his music is cheesy (and more entertaining than "serious" classical), he was a brilliant showman and a very rich man! One of the first homosexual people on television. On every finger he wore a huge diamond ring. When confronted about the rings, people would ask: how do you play with all those rings on? He would simply replied: very well! As part of the show, Liberace would often wear several (up to 6 or 8) suits at a concert. A suit would include a grand (not to mention HUGE!) coat. Liberace is available on DVD. I cherish his memory - this is my tribute! J. Lee Graham Posted December 6, 2008 Posted December 6, 2008 What a character! He was also one of the first celebrities to die of AIDS. God rest his soul. Quote
