Dexter VanDango Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 Composers of evergreen X-mas tunes become filthy rich. I need a composer to set music to these lyrics, for something we have all longed for: A post Christmas tune to be played incessantly the week after the Yuletide. Set these words to music and e-mail me the resulting sound file. Remember to give it a Christmasy feel. Marius Posted January 8, 2009 Posted January 8, 2009 And why exactly would we be doing this? Is it for a production, for broadcast, for poo poos and giggles...? Are you paying or otherwise compensating, do you have a preference for style or instrumentation beyond it having "a Christmassy feel"? Some more details would probably help entice people to write something for you. Quote
Dexter VanDango Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 The idea, of course is to share 50-50 on the earnings of such a composition. Wouldn't it be a thrill to hear your song played just after Christmas... every Christmas?!? Quote
Dexter VanDango Posted January 8, 2009 Author Posted January 8, 2009 Irving Berlin wrote timeless melodies, George Gershwin, too.. Lennon & McCartney. The musicality of "Sleigh Bells" or "Oh, Holy Night" is unquestionable. A true artist can write a dog food jingle that can contribute to our common happiness. Quote
Marius Posted January 9, 2009 Posted January 9, 2009 Cool, so you're intending it for broadcast then. Do you have such an agreement worked out with some manner of radio or television station? Otherwise anything we write would only be compensated by said "50/50" scheme IF it actually went to air; and, being in the radio and television arts myself, I can say with little doubt that if there's one style/genre/type of music that is in unbelievable abundance, it's the Christmas song — be it a straight arrangement or some manner of comedic twist like the above lyrics. Anyway, I'm sure there's someone on here with some spare time and talent on their hands who wouldn't mind doing it anyway just for the experience of writing in the style. But, as a general helpful note, if you're going to give people serious reasons to want to contribute to your little project, at least make sure they're supportable reasons and they're presented from the outset. Good luck! Quote
