I agree with Maelstrom. Though, I should add: when writing for strings (especially in doing double/triple/quadruple stops) try to keep in mind that the string players will break the chord (dependent on bowing) - this is due to the arch of the bridge itself which makes it impossible to play 3 - 4 notes as a full even chord. Also, when placing pitches in the stop - try to think of the strings you want them to play - for instance, like maelstrom mentioned the viola's strings (C, G, D, A) do not allow for the C# - F# to be played at the same time. You could always rearrange the layout of the stop to allow for the exact pitches you want.
