spc1st Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 I don't know about others, but generally I like darker (ie, black) color bases - easier on the eyes. Quote
Daniel Posted March 20, 2006 Posted March 20, 2006 If it was replaced I reckon people should be able to choose from several. Quote
tenorman008 Posted March 21, 2006 Posted March 21, 2006 I don't know about others, but generally I like darker (ie, black) color bases - easier on the eyes. I totally agree. Darker colors are easier on the eyes. No white or yellow backgrounds. I actually saw a site with a yellow back ground with green text. It was horrible. I don't think the site is even around anymore though. Quote
Guest Invisionary Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 I think the brown has a nice classical feel to it. Like a nice room with wooden floors and nice classic wood dressers. Jeremy Quote
Chad dream eyes Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 My skin is olive. Because I have italian in me baby! You can delete this if you want........ I voted for how it is now, why change a good thing? Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted March 22, 2006 Posted March 22, 2006 anything a little more interesting.... even slightly so would be nice. other then this cappucino brown colour.... Quote
Evan Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I agree with bob_stole_my_cookie. I recently discovered the alternative themes at the bottom, and though not ideal, I think they are much better than the brown and cream. I voted blue. It's more lively and fun. Maybe not as professional, though, which is a necessary trait of a forum such as this. Anyway, hope this helps. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 the popOrange skin is funky but not very.... appropriate Quote
jayhiebel1 Posted March 26, 2006 Posted March 26, 2006 I would like to second the darker choice! Its much easier and more elegant in my view. A Blue, Black, or nice Mahogony would be a nice touch Quote
Guest Anders Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I think the popOrange skin (my, i love that capitalized O in the middle of the word) is very appropriate, well, at least for my own musical philosophy. :innocent: I would like to second the darker choice! Its much easier and more elegant in my view. A Blue, Black, or nice Mahogony would be a nice touch[/b] Indeed, a darker skin would also be nice. Quote
Mike Posted March 27, 2006 Author Posted March 27, 2006 The popOrange skin uses non-standard HTML compared to the default skin so using it would be a right pain when doing upgrades and stuff. And although it does look quite nice, I agree with the comments about it not being entirely appropriate for this forum. We want something professional and serious looking (for the default skin at least). I like dark colours too because they contribute to a feel of calmness. We will bear in mind the expressed preferences for darker shades. Quote
Shadow Posted March 27, 2006 Posted March 27, 2006 I like the skin, but I think any of the colors will do. So my vote is any color. :innocent:  Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted March 28, 2006 Posted March 28, 2006 i think a nice deep, rich purple could be nice, kinda like the music history forum but a little darker with more blue attributes Quote
Evan Posted March 29, 2006 Posted March 29, 2006 Just as long as the text is black on a light background. Light text on a dark background is bad. A nice, darker background may be nice, but I'd have to see to be sure. Quote
bob stole my cookie Posted March 31, 2006 Posted March 31, 2006 so when can we expect a verdict? Quote
Mike Posted March 31, 2006 Author Posted March 31, 2006 I can't give an exact date but the answer is "some time in the future". We certainly won't be altering the skin currently in use because it would be a waste of effort in light of the fact that we are changing forum software at some point. So we will probably make any changes once we switch software. That said, I'm not sure chopin is altogether keen on changing the theme. He wants us to remain looking as unique as possible. We'll see.
