Steven J Kabza Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Where can I find clips with out scores so I can get practice composing for film? What would be a good source? I'm new at this but all my searches have come up empty. :( Quote
jujimufu Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Why not make videos and write music for them? :P Or you can just take amateur videos from youtube (although you could ask for the permission of the user who's uploaded it), or scenes from movies which have background music and no speaking (in which case you just mute the video, and try and reproduce any sounds that occur -slamming of door, walking etc- with soundfiles from a library somewhere), or just silent films (like Prokofiev did - he wrote music for a few films), or just generally any videos you think inspire you to write music for. There is no particular place where you will find "videos ready for film composition", I don't think (not free, at least). Another good bet would be to work with someone your age who is into directing, so he could do the movies and you could do the music. Or something. Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted February 25, 2009 Posted February 25, 2009 Wired 14.10: START There's a start. there's a public domain (ie legal) movie torrent service around, i just couldn't find it. Look at silent movies, of which there are some doozies. Quote
