Composer(s) Needed for Star Trek Fan Film

Hey everyone! My name is Michael, I'm the creator of an internet-based Star Trek fan film called Star Trek: Origins. I'm posting here today, because I'm looking for someone to create an original theme for the project, as well as music for the episodes, trailers, etc.

This is a volunteer gig, but it will expose your work to hundreds of thousand of people who are Trek fans and that view Trek fan films on the internet. There is a possibility of a little $$ down the road, but for now, it's volunteer.

If any of you are into Trek or Sci-fi in general, and have the ability to compose for something like this, I'd like to hear from you.

Interesting. I've never been a "trekkie" (or "trekker", if you preferr :)) per se, but the Star Trek universe does interest me to some extent. I'll have to hold off on helping out though, do to so many other obligations that I've already neglecting :D. Good luck with your search, though.

I'm interested, but I've never composed for films and therefore don't know what the job would involve. Care to fill me in?

Well...firstly, an original theme needs to be created for the series....hey...all shows need a theme, right?

And in addition to the theme, music needs to be "designed" for different scenes within each episode...you know, like the music you hear during a fight scene or a ship-to-ship combat scene...that kind of thing. Also, the short buffer music used when changing from one scene to another or that which ends or begins a scene.

I don't know the proper terminology, but I can describe things in layman's terms. If you have any other questions....lemme know!!

Well, let me say this...so far I've received several replies from this forum, with demos and samples of work. All I can say is WOW!!! You people have some real talent, and I appreciate so much the willingness to help us out. I can only hope you ALL hit it big one of these days! I also hope we might have a little to do with helping you get there!

Keep up the awesome work!! I'm really excited about this and am having a blast listening to the music being sent my way!!

Hi everyone! Well...I gotta tell you..we've been banging our heads trying to figure out which theme to use for our series...and at this point it looks like we're going to go with the theme done by...

MARIUS

It was a VERY difficult decision...the theme created by Beefy was also fantastic, but all of the people behind the scenes (as it were) felt the theme by Marius had that certain quality for a Star Trek theme.

Now..even though Beefy's theme wasn't picked for the opening theme...it is going to be used in our trailer/teaser, and/or in various other areas of production. It's just got such great sound and feel to it, I really want to use it any way I can.

I want to thank everyone who submitted themes and offered to help us out. We do still need help with sound design for each episode - once filmed - so I'll be back here to ask for your help with that as well.

Can we hear Marius' theme?

*bows* good to hear! :D Unfortunately though, I myself cannot offer any more music to this production because I'm completely swamped with other work for the next little while. I'm quite sorry to say that really because I've always wanted to do something like this. Perhaps if time restraint is not a major issue then I could offer more :)

In the meantime, please keep us up to date, I'll be very eagerly following the progress of this project :)

If you're still in need of any incidental music/mood setting stuff for the episodes themselves, then I would be very interested. I'm currently doing a degree in Music Composition for Professional Media and have spent the last six months composing music to fit with videos and film sequences, heh.

And I still think that Voyager had the best soundtrack... :D

We'll always be in need of incidental music...each episode will need music to go along with different scenes, end of acts, battle action, etc. We're so early into the development of this, we don't have any footage to show as of yet. It will be a few months before we get to that point I'm afraid..so at this point, there are no time constraints. That won't happen until we start shooting.

So if anyone is interested in doing some music for us, just contact me and send some examples of your stuff.
