Alexander Posted April 13, 2009 Posted April 13, 2009 I was bored this morning, had no mood to study, and decided to record myself playing a couple of things. I record an etude from Rautavaara which I study and a gagliarde from Byrd which I don't study, but I like to play on occasion (I've never really studied it to be honest). Both are "a bit" messed up... :) Etude Gagliarde Alexandros 10th Gagliarde.pdf PDF 10th Gagliarde Quote
Alexander Posted April 17, 2009 Author Posted April 17, 2009 Here's my interpretation of the Prelude in Bb major from The Well-tempered Clavier 1. I am still studying it so it's not so good. I need to work more on a more balanced and clear sound. Prelude in Bb major Quote
composerorganist Posted April 18, 2009 Posted April 18, 2009 Alex - The Prelude is actually in quite good shape. Only part I hear any possible tone problem is with your chords. Sounds like you could voice them a little better and ensure you relax your hand more after striking the chords. The runs are very good. You do a good job marking the phrases. I suggest giving more space to demarcate the different sections just to give the listener a more visceral sense of the piece's form. Quote
Alexander Posted June 7, 2009 Author Posted June 7, 2009 Composerorganist, I am sorry for my late reply. I had completely forgotten this thread. I am glad you liked it. I performed the prelude at the university's entrance examinations. My teacher told me that at the chord section the hand should follow first a downward motion for the first chord then an upward one for the sixteenth note chord and then a downward motion again. I am doing it that way and I think it works fine (I am not doing that in the recording). Quote
