Morgri Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Here are some recordings from my senior composition recital. I got a few good performances considering the amount of rehearsal time I got. Sonata for Flute and Viola Prelude in D Major for Solo Piano Night on a Silent Hill Cycles for Strings and Percussion Rage of Fire - the ifrit The Talking Willow Tree Some of them are rather rough, but enjoy anyway! composerorganist Posted April 22, 2009 Posted April 22, 2009 Morgri - Congrats on very good performances! Of all the works I enjoyed the last two and Night on a Silent Hill the most - they felt the most complete. The Sonata for Flute and Viola - well I preferred the faster tempo of you original. My only criticism is that they were not very long therefore not representing your command of larger forms. Is there a reason for this? Quote
composerorganist Posted May 5, 2009 Posted May 5, 2009 Bump up. Hey y'all Morgri got a very good performances of his works - please comment! Quote
Old Composer Posted May 13, 2009 Posted May 13, 2009 I remember listening to a few things a while back I just didn't comment. That helps you a lot, doesn't it? :P:P I'm listening to the Talking Willow Tree right now. I feel like a bit more could be done dynamically. I'm not sure what you have in the score, but they seem to be underdoing it a bit. I kind of wish there would be a change in orchestration, perhaps after the first pause, a little over 1/3rd the way through the piece. There are some tuning problems, but....woodwinds aren't always knows for their great intonation. This piece has some good ideas, and you got a good performance of it, I think. But sometimes I wish there were a bit of a change of pace or something. You've got some nice textures in there. Quote
