Marius Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 That is awesome!! Very cool, I'll try to somehow tune in! Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Are you kidding me??!! That is so cool! What an honour to have my work one of those chosen. Thanks! What's the name of the radio station, the frequency, etc? Do they do a webcast? Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 I think that is really cool as well. I wish to be able to compose something in the future that will be good enough to be chosen. I have one request, if I may do so. Please put on Marius's Madness for Six Hands. I liked that one even better than the Variations. There is a bright future ahead for YC. ;) Quote
chopin Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Hey that would be great! Yes I would like to tune in of course, can you provide more details on the station? - Chopin's, either waltz in c minor or nocturne in d-flat (you choose) If this is true, I'd prefer Nocturne in D-flat. Thanks very much. Quote
Agnor Posted April 5, 2006 Posted April 5, 2006 Well I'm lucky I live in Portugal, so I'd be able to hear it by "normal" means.... So what's the radio name/ frequency. I'm afraid that few radio stations have international webcasts here in Portugal... Quote
M_is_D Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Well I'm lucky I live in Portugal, so I'd be able to hear it by "normal" means.... So what's the radio name/ frequency. I'm afraid that few radio stations have international webcasts here in Portugal... Oh, it's Antena 2. In case you live in the North (near Oporto) that should be 92.50 I think it's 94.40 for the Center, but not sure. About the Madness for Six Hands being played, I unfortunately don't have it in my CD :-P and those classical music radio snobs would probably prefer a piece like the Variations. Quote

What's the name of the radio station, the frequency, etc? Do they do a webcast? The radio is Antena 2, and I'm not sure if they have a webcast, but do try www.rtp.pt and check out the radio stations. Who knows. The program is called "Sarabanda" and again, I recall you that the time is 9.30 -12.30, Lisbon/London time. Quote
Mike Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 This is awesome! I'll make every effort to tune in. Quote
Agnor Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Found the webcast! mms://rdp.oninet.pt/antena2 If you can't enter the site try this one: http://www.rtp.pt/wportal/multimedia/audio/index.php and in "Escolha o canal e ouça a emissão online" choose "Antena 2" Quote
Mike Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 Anything beginning with mms:// denotes use of the Microsoft Windows Media Player streaming protocol, and as such you will need Windows Media Player to listen. If, as has just happened to me, you have clicked the link but nothing has happened, open up Windows Media Player on your computer, then try: File -> Open URL. Then paste "mms://rdp.oninet.pt/antena3" into the box and click OK. There is also a RealPlayer alternative available on the site which Mac users will probably have to use over WMP. It's presumably made to work using roughly the same method as described above except with RealPlayer. I don't know what Linux users are going to do though. Use a Windows computer for a bit, I guess. EDIT: Also, would one of our Portuguese users be kind enough to provide a post-broadcast summary or transcription of what was said, taking into account none of us English-speaking folk are able to understand Portuguese (to the best of my knowledge)? :ninja: Quote
M_is_D Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 AHHHH! :ninja: I WANNA LISTEN!! PLEASE TELL ME WHERE I CAN HEAR THIS AND WHEN!! (I live in Michigan......time difference??)) AHHHHHH THANK YOU SO MUCH FOR PICKING MY BALLADE GAHH I WANNA HEAR!!! AHHHH WHOOOO AHHHH IM CRAZYYY :P LOL it's in Portugal. Three hours earlier for american eastern coast, I believe, and 5 for western coast. One hour later for the rest of Europe up to Russia. Just use the link(s) Agnor provided. Oh and enjoy the show, even if you don't understand it ;) Quote
M_is_D Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 Oh and the pieces will obviously be just 20 sec. extracts...STILL...the radio itself might be interested in them (if you all consent.) Quote
chopin Posted April 6, 2006 Posted April 6, 2006 According to you then, in Jersey, it starts at 6:30pm and in Cali it starts at 4:30pm. However, Cali is 3 hours behind Jersey... Also, will it start exactly at the beginning of the hour? You said the radio station is Antenna 2. Here are the two links given by Agnor for the webcast. However, the first link is Antenna 2, and the second link is Antenna 3. Is the second link wrong? mms://rdp.oninet.pt/antena2 If you can't enter the site try this one: http://www.rtp.pt/wportal/multimedia/audio/index.php Quote
M_is_D Posted April 6, 2006 Author Posted April 6, 2006 I don't think you all got it: it begins at 9.30 in the MORNING  so Nico's 6 PM would be AM! :) Quote
M_is_D Posted April 7, 2006 Author Posted April 7, 2006 IMPORTANT NOTE: I just heard the show, tomorrow, shall be broadcast from 7.00 to 10.00 am, GMT London/Lisbon time, with the rest of europe being one hour later. I shall be on the last hour of the show, with my own playing and YC music being broadcast. If americans are unable to heqar because it is too soon for them, I may get my hands on a soundfile which I will try to post. For those who can hear tomorrow, at least through internet, tune in around 9.00 GMT (10.00 for Europe apart of Continental Portugal and the UK) and check it out! :) expect a portuguese invasion! :) Best regards M is D the radio guy Quote
Guest cavatina Posted April 7, 2006 Posted April 7, 2006 I hope the extract of mine is not the beginning sad.gif. The furious section is better smile.gif. Play that. W/e I'm tuning in!! So it would be 5 or 6 pm my time? (Michigan herr) I disagree Nico - the intro is by far the best part of the whole piece! - Nico's Ballade- Chopin's, either waltz in c minor or nocturne in d-flat (you choose thumbsup.gif) - J. Lee's Symphony in G - Marius' Variations[/b] All great pieces, but why did you choose only the "classical imitators"? Granted that Marius isn't generally classical, but the other three clearly are (no offense intended - your music is amazing, just nothing new) There is so much other good and exciting music being posted here, I wish you would have mixed it up a bit to show that the forum isn't all classical imitation... just my 2 cents. I'm looking forward to hearing a sound recording of the radio show if you have it though. Quote

I'm of the opinion that almost noone elses music on here is 'new' as well - i.e. in the same category you place the classical "imitators". Just because classical music is some of the oldest music that gets "imitated" doesn't mean it's the only imitated music. Quote
Guest BitterDuck Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 According to M is D the people who listen to this radio station are "classical music radio fans." It's only naturally to pick music that appeals to them. I also don't believe much music here is really new. The only difference is one form is more modern than the other. Either way, it's imtiation of another form of muisc. Quote
Mike Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 Hmm, it seems I missed the playing of the extracts by about 10 minutes. Damn. Did anyone do a recording? (I did but of course I was too late) Quote
M_is_D Posted April 8, 2006 Author Posted April 8, 2006 I'm back from Lisbon! :) the interview ran great. Unfortunately, only the beginning of the Noctutrnee and the ending of the Variations were aired  but Youngcomposers was publicized across the nation, and Chopin, Marius, Agnor and Berlioz (because they're portuguese ;)) got to be spoken of. anyone with a recording, please post! Quote
Berlioz Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 I recorded it on tape, my dad's gonna change it to digital audio when he's home, I'll post it as soon as possible!! Quote
Ravels Radical Rivalry Posted April 8, 2006 Posted April 8, 2006 What about Nico? Did they play his Ballade? Did they talk about him? Quote
