theOmaster Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Alright, so I've written several pieces for a video game. They asked me to write for orchestra music (which to them basically meant I needed a string section), so I've done that. (It's the Dark Ember thread if you feel like looking it up). They have now asked me to make some variations on them...one of the types of variations they want it the guitar/bass/drums combination. This somewhat makes me sad, but it's what they want. I don't listen to much "pop" music, just what I hear from friends on the radio which isn't much. So can I get some suggestions on how to "pop"ularize my orchestral arrangements? They especially want variation on Dark Ember - 3, and Dark Ember - 6. 3 I have hardly any clue how I'm going to do that, but 6 seems like it'll be much easier. Thanks! http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/dark-ember-video-game-19581.html thread Quote
Gavin Gorrick Posted May 22, 2009 Posted May 22, 2009 Listen to different kinds of music....... I mean, either you know the music or you don't. There's a fitting Louis Armstrong quote I'd like to use but can't remember... anyway, listen to this Quote
theOmaster Posted May 25, 2009 Author Posted May 25, 2009 Haha, that's an awesome vid. It reminds me of these 80's Hindu videos I've watched with friends. Mostly because of how they record the voices, haha, it's funny. Yeah, I try to listen in the style of the music I'm writing. I guess I should ask what kind of pop my employer is asking for. I'm not sure he'll want me to copy the style of the song you linked, but it would be hilarious! Quote
