Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 So, I'm writing a string quartet. I didn't think it belonged anywhere except here because what I want to talk about is the second movement: it's like a mini-concerto-movement thing. The first violin operates in a solo capacity. What is your favorite violin-featuring piece that uses extended techniques such as harmonics, ponticello and sul ponticello writing, new pizzicatti, and glissandi? My personal favorite is Brian Ferneyhough's "Terrain." Quote
J. Lee Graham Posted April 10, 2006 Posted April 10, 2006 I've never really gone in for all the flashy stuff. I suppose Paganini would be the most palatable. Quote
