Hoontar Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 Hey everyone, I'm in the process of creating a string orchestra for my university focusing on contemporary music, and performing in a way that is relevant and beneficial to society today. Consequently, I do not want to name this ensemble, "The Chesterfield Chamber Strings" if you understand what I'm getting at. Does anyone have any name ideas for a small string orchestra with an edge or modern appeal? Thanks. Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted June 12, 2009 Posted June 12, 2009 If it is university-run, I think using the university's name as a selling point will benefit both the quartet's and the university's marketability. Conservative naming might be a boon for getting gigs so as to say "This is why we're good." If it's your baby, then it's your baby... Maybe you should wait until the group creates a sound for itself through music choice and personality? Quote
