oxana Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 The world of music copyright is evolving. Monopolies of collecting societies are under pressure. Composers complain about a lack of benefit, users about non-transparent and high tariffs. Why should you as a composer pay a membership fee to such an organization, when you have to fill in a lot of forms and get nothing or little in return? Why should you as a user pay such high tariffs? This can change. Quote
Gardener Posted June 30, 2009 Posted June 30, 2009 Sorry, but I still fail to see how this is a great new model for music copyright, and not just another party trying to get a share of the cake. If it's about "managing your own rights", why would you need them in the first place? You can already do that if you want. Quote
oxana Posted June 30, 2009 Author Posted June 30, 2009 Every garden needs weeding. You can sit and wait until something is happening, or you can do something. Of course you can manage your own rights. That's the idea, but it sure would help if there is someone who knows something about licensing and if your musical works are amongst others available on a website in English and Spanish. Take a look. Quote
