Guest thatguy Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 Octatonic scale? Score. *thatguy suits up and enters the competition*
blackballoons Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 LOL "using the octatonic scale" = writing music like Jennifer Higdon. Sounds good enough. I'm in, maybe.
James H. Posted July 4, 2009 Posted July 4, 2009 If I enter a piece, I enter a piece. If I don't, I don't - in which case I might judge. Don't know if I will or not, we'll see. Winner of this competition gets a link to their piece featured on the Young Composers' Home Page for at least one month. (unless the winner opts out) -- The composition must make use of the octotonic scale in SOME fashion, but it does not have to use the scale the whole composition THE octotonic (diminished) scale, or ANY octotonic scale?

James H. Posted July 8, 2009 Posted July 8, 2009 I assume solo instrument means no accompaniment. Oboe and marimba wouldn't be okay, would it?
Morgri Posted July 8, 2009 Author Posted July 8, 2009 Yes, solo instrument means only one instrument is allowed. Submit the pieces here.
