Student_of_Mozart Posted August 8, 2009 Posted August 8, 2009 I finished the counterpoint assignment. Its up a few posts. :)
Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 Hi! Okay, so with Nico taking over as your primary instructor, I'm just here to provide optional compositional challenges, which I hope you'll take. #1: Using the following four pitches (and only these four pitches): Ab, D, E, and G - compose a short piece (approximately 36 bars in length). #1b ("extra credit"): Write it with NO bars of 2/4, 3/4, 4/4, or 3/8, 6/8, 9/8, or 12/8 (i.e., use only irregular meters such as 5/4, 7/8, etc.).
Student_of_Mozart Posted August 12, 2009 Posted August 12, 2009 I shall take them. :) So for the entire piece I can only use those four pitches?
Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted August 12, 2009 Author Posted August 12, 2009 Yep. Only those four. Should be at least 30 seconds long, but can be longer if you want.
repinshtrad Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hey man, I would like some help. I never have had a theory class, but I have picked up a little theory in my high school orchestra the past two years. i have finale and i can write some melodies down but my problem is i cannot move it along to another theme and cannot create smooth transitions. i think the problem is that i do not know enough theory so i would like to strengthen and work on the basics.
