I've finished the rough draft to this song I've been working on, but I was wondering how I would make the file size smaller for the pdf version so when I post it, people wouldn't have to download 200 mb. for a score...:)

thanks!

You could upload a midi, or if you cannot produce a midi from your music, take a screenshot of your pdf page by page and then post the jpegs. I dont know of any other way depending on what program you are using to write music.

I moved your thread over here since it contains a question and not music.

I am not sure what is going on here. A pdf of your score would never be 200 mbs. Everyone I have ever done, even with huge scores, has always been under 1 mbs.

What program are you using to make your pdf's?

I use primopdf and have had no problems.

I may forget to look in this section, so pm me and I will help you get set up to do pdf scores.

If you're using Finale, the PDF save option is built in, in which case I have never seen anything over a couple megabytes. But, if for some reason you have a PDF score with 100 instruments that goes on for about as many pages as the Bible, then I could see the problem. But this depends on what music notation program you are using...

Only for Mac users.

More than likely, the score isn't optimized to fit correctly, i.e., there are only a few measures per page. That's the only thing I could think of that would create a huge .pdf. Even my .pdf's of 20+ page scores at 4000dpi only max out at about 3MB.

I am using sibelius, and saving my score as a pdf when I go to "print". Other than that, I have no idea how else to save it to put on here as a score, as I have no idea how to make it a jpeg or anything else. ....

PDF is fine, you don't need to make it a Jpeg or Gif or anything.

Once you press print, go to options and select your program (that turns it into a PDF) as your printer, and it will open your sibelius file as a PDF score.

Sorry if you already knew all that.

Now make a new thread to post your music in, and you should see a paperclip symbol. Click on it, upload your files by clicking browse and opening your files, and then to the right of the files you want to upload, there's a small download button. Click it, close the window, write your thread up and when you make the thread, your attachments will be on the bottom of your post.

Hope that helps :]
