rickmiller Posted August 5, 2009 Posted August 5, 2009 What is the performance direction meaning: 'To play below the bridge'? i.e. The sqeaky part. Thanks, Rick. Quote
Gardener Posted August 6, 2009 Posted August 6, 2009 Well, just that? (Usually it's called a variant of "behind the bridge" though.) There's also a special symbol for it, although like all these extended technique symbols it's not -that- standartised and not known by everyone, so you should still make a verbal annotation, at least in the performance notes. I don't have an image of it on hand right now though and don't feel like drawing it up, but it's basically a set of vertical lines symbolizing the strings (sometimes also reduced to just two) and a small curve across them, symbolizing the bridge.
