variousmusik Posted August 27, 2009 Posted August 27, 2009 Listen to this: KAIBA hacker JD 9M13.mp3 and tell me the instruments used. I know it sounds like a synthesizer, but what sort of instrumentation do you think is used here, I am looking for the sound of the strings, really interesting. Anyway, thanks in advance! Quote
variousmusik Posted August 27, 2009 Author Posted August 27, 2009 It's all synthesizer, but it's emulating, along with some custom sounds, woodblocks, church organ, orchestra strings, electric guitar, and of course drums. Wow, thanks man! But, I don't understand much about your "emulating" word? You mean like re-creating the real instruments? and what are "woodblocks"? Quote
drag0ncl0ud Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 emulate means to imitate, in this case it means that the sounds on the synthesizer were created on a computer to sound as similarly to the real instrument as possible Woodblocks are blocks of wood (not so surprising) that you hit with a stick. They usually have a hollow inside with a hole on one side to naturally amplify the sound (similar to the sound chamber in a string instrument). Quote
Salemosophy Posted September 4, 2009 Posted September 4, 2009 That's not a synthesized woodblock... they sound more like Claves which are round, cylindrical pieces of (traditionally wood) plastics and/or fiberglass. The pitch is higher and more piercing, which is why I know they're claves and not a woodblock. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Claves Also, the entire piece is an arrangement of synthesized groups. You have an orchestral synth, a percussion synth, an electric guitar synth, a pizzicato string synth, and probably something else like an 'effects' synth (I heard crashing waves and wind at one point, I thought). This is typical electronica type music often heard in films like The Matrix or something. What are you going to do with it, out of curiosity? Quote
