JijGaat Posted September 8, 2009 Posted September 8, 2009 Hi everyone, I am new to this forum. I wanted to know what you think about my latest composition called "Hannibal". The link is here: I try to compose movie-like pieces, if anyone here has experience with that I'd be glad to hear some tips, any advice in general is appreciated too. Any advice on how to improve is welcome. Have fun listening! Kind regards, JijGaat Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 The synth when it enters is kinda weird -- almost a laugh... I like the drums, but that's almost tribal than war... But I kinda see I guess with Hannibal being N. African... Maybe the transitions need something -- it's very blocky, not as seamless as I'd like to hear. It's a triumphant end, but the middle is more murky -- yet the music doesn't show why the change happens. Quote
JijGaat Posted September 9, 2009 Author Posted September 9, 2009 Thanks for your tips :) I think i can do a lot with this! I think especially the transitions is something I should work on, I have heard this tip more often, Quote
glass000 Posted September 9, 2009 Posted September 9, 2009 Yeah I agree for the synth you maybe do a slide there (tone or semitone) As for the drums solo part I thought you could add some backround instruments or effects cause sounds very ''empty'' on this part. I like the strings rythm on beginning. Quote
JijGaat Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 @ glass000 which instruments would you recommend to add in the drum part? Some double basses? Quote
glass000 Posted September 10, 2009 Posted September 10, 2009 You can add something bass maybe a contrabass tuba, or trombones but not a melody only a note to add a little depth. If you try it tell me what you think??? Quote
JijGaat Posted September 10, 2009 Author Posted September 10, 2009 I might look at it someday, im kinda busy now, but if i changed it ill post the result here :) Quote
