Kamen Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 One of the craziest things in composition I've done is that I haven't composed any serious atonal work yet. Quote
pianoman216 Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 I once wrote a choir piece in Fbb. Turned out pretty crappy, but I still like the idea. I got an assignment in an early music theory class to write a solo melody line using only eighth notes. I was somewhat annoyed because the assignment was way too easy and I wanted more of a challenge so I wrote it in Ab harmonic minor with tons of ties and accidentals. My teacher glanced at it and gave me an A because he didn Quote

Tom_Lynch Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 In a world where people have written quartets for 4 helicopters, someone wrote a quartet for helicopters or someone wrote a quartet for strings in helicopters? i googled it and only the strings in helicopters came up. if there really is a quartet for helicopters, that is f***ing awesome, and who wrote it? Karlheinz Stockhausen did that he was trying to simulate the helicopters sound with a string quartet. Google his name also there are some videos on YouTube;) Quote

Kamen Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 ^ He likes accidentals. Helicopters are uninteresting. I am planning a quintet for F-15, F-16, F-18, F-117 and UFO. :P Quote

Lord Skye Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Fbb? Come on. There's no reason anyone should ever choose to write a piece in even Fb unless you modulate to it, and even then I might just go to E. Fbb is just being silly. Quote

Salemosophy Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 I've thought about writing a piece called 'Death in Space'... about 19 seconds of silence, then the lights in the auditorium go out. The end. Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted October 12, 2009 Posted October 12, 2009 Only if you pressurize the auditorium, then depressurize it rapidly at the end. Let's get some violence. Quote
