Lisztian Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 According to the wiki and sheets you should play them by using your index and 4th finger, but it hinders speed -- I'd rather have it more speedy than what I have right now. Any suggestions? Quote
Morgri Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 It's called an etude for a reason. Use your 4th finger and work it up to that speed. :) Quote
shpena Posted October 3, 2009 Posted October 3, 2009 I read that Liszt did it on purpose so that it doesn't go too fast and sounds like horse hooves. Yes, there are people who play ignoring the fingerings, but they are there for a reason. I LOVE the Mazeppa :D Quote

The fingering Liszt wants is annoying to learn, but simpler I guess. Okay, thanks anyway. Quote
