Herr Kremlin Posted October 5, 2009 Posted October 5, 2009 Is there actual good literature for Tuba-Euphonium quartet? I'm working on some contest pieces (Tuba-Euph quartet being one of them) and I've never come across any real repertoire for that ensemble, just rubbish music for high school students or weird arrangements of military marches or the Mario Bros theme. I'll write my own music either way, it just sort of pains me that I've never heard any serious literature from the Tuba family. Just to sort of reiterate, I have no interest in stuffy tarted up british march music or whatever, or anything that sounds like that. Till then.. Quote
RDD Posted October 13, 2009 Posted October 13, 2009 Yes, there is good literature for Tuba-Euphonium quartet or ensemble. I don't know where you are looking at, but Cimmaron Music and Tuba-Euphonium Press are two very good places to look. Some of the original literature I know of are things like Appalachian Carol by James Canter and Pesado Amor by Sean Green (I think that's how you spell it.) There are plenty more on top of that. There are also a lot of classical transcriptions of things like Adagio for Strings, Nimrod, Verdi's Ave Maria, and others I can't think of right now. These are just titles I have ran across in my participation in Tuba/Euphonium ensembles. Quote
