RRusty Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 Does anyone here like the style of a group called Project Trio? They just recently performed at my school and then I went to their concert. I like they style of playing and instrument selection (fluet, cello, string bass). What is your opinion on them? (They became famous on youtube) Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted October 11, 2009 Posted October 11, 2009 PROJECT is it? OH It's that beatboxing flute player! Neat, but gimmicky. Quote
RRusty Posted October 11, 2009 Author Posted October 11, 2009 They also do calmer songs, it is not all beatboxing. I really enjoy the cello part. Quote
Lord Skye Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 PROJECT is it?OH It's that beatboxing flute player! Neat, but gimmicky. That's basically what I think about it. Cute, but are they making actually good, non-novelty music? (I'm not particularly responding to you Ferk, just QFT.) Quote
Ferkungamabooboo Posted October 19, 2009 Posted October 19, 2009 I enjoy it It be nice if the bassist was thinking as far from his instrument as the other two. The Flutist has a nasty attack, the cellist is thinking more like a guitarist (except in that one section that sounds like that song from the 5th Element), but the bassist is just pedaling. Also, lofi recording might not have been the best call -- i'm really not sure why they went that direction when a less "punk" mixing would have brought the other parts out better when the flute was wailing. musiclover1234 Posted October 31, 2009 Posted October 31, 2009 These guys are amazing. I saw them in concert and it was really special. The stuff you see on youtube is only a very small part of what they do. You have got to see them live. They are doing things that no one else is doing. They are composing in the style of today and bringing the rock bacd mentality to chamber music. A must see. Quote
