YC26 Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 I'll judge with you Thomas. If you're involved with this then things should be smart.
blackballoons Posted November 4, 2009 Author Posted November 4, 2009 Alright, Corbin. You're a judge. :]
Bachian Posted November 4, 2009 Posted November 4, 2009 Sign me up. I'll see what I can come up with. What instruments are considered chamber? Isn't that pretty much anything?
blackballoons Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 Consider yourselves in.:) @Bachian: Any instruments are fair game. As long as you know what you're doing with them of course. :]
Gamma Posted November 5, 2009 Posted November 5, 2009 You said 1-6 players, if you had 1, wouldn't it mean a solo rather than an ensemble? Or can we do a solo thing as well? If so I'd like to do a solo instead.
blackballoons Posted November 5, 2009 Author Posted November 5, 2009 @Gamma: yes, solos are allowed. :]
Bachian Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 Can we do a three movement concerto if it doesn't go over 10 minutes as a whole, or must it be one single movement/piece?
blackballoons Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Can we do a three movement concerto if it doesn't go over 10 minutes as a whole, or must it be one single movement/piece? I suppose you can do more than one movement...but, if it's a concerto I'm going to have to say no. (Chamber instrumentation only, please. :))
YC26 Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I suppose you can do more than one movement...but, if it's a concerto I'm going to have to say no. (Chamber instrumentation only, please. :)) Concertos can be with a chamber ensemble.
Bachian Posted November 7, 2009 Posted November 7, 2009 I suppose you can do more than one movement...but, if it's a concerto I'm going to have to say no. (Chamber instrumentation only, please. :)) Huh? Violin, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Harpsichord is not Chamber? H'm...
blackballoons Posted November 7, 2009 Author Posted November 7, 2009 Huh? Violin, Violin, Viola, Cello, and Harpsichord is not Chamber? H'm... That works fine. But a concerto would be for soloist and orchestra...if violin, violin, viola, cello, harpsichord is what you intended, it's fine. :D
punkitititi Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 concerto is not JUST soloist and orchestra, much more tiny soloist against SUPER HUGE orchestra, and throughout ages the concerto idea has changed several times... so it all depends on what you refer to as a concerto :)
YC26 Posted November 8, 2009 Posted November 8, 2009 concerto is not JUST soloist and orchestra, much more tiny soloist against SUPER HUGE orchestra, and throughout ages the concerto idea has changed several times... so it all depends on what you refer to as a concerto :) A name doesn't mean anything now. Call something whatever you want as long as it is within context of an idea or w/e... Even then.. not really. Just follow the number of instruments. That is all.
