AehrasYT Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 I was just wondering if it would be possible to have a Solo Classical guitar board much like the Solo piano board, The solo classical guitar pieces can hold there own just like a piano piece, I could even help with critiques or what ever needs to be done with it[i'm a very qualified classical guitarist i understand alot of the technique and theories involved with it], if you would just please consider it? I would appreciate it greatly. Quote
Jolly McJollyson Posted April 29, 2006 Posted April 29, 2006 Sounds like a good idea if there are enough classical guitar composers here Quote
Guest BitterDuck Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 I was just wondering if it would be possible to have a Solo Classical guitar board much like the Solo piano board, The solo classical guitar pieces can hold there own just like a piano piece, I could even help with critiques or what ever needs to be done with it[i'm a very qualified classical guitarist i understand alot of the technique and theories involved with it], if you would just please consider it? I would appreciate it greatly. Although I am bias towards the classical guitar since I have been played since I was a toddler, I fail to see enough composers for the instrument here. Not enough people write for the guitar or know how too. The instruments fits well in the solo section. However, the piano has a myriad of composers and more people can write for the instruments. Solo piano has one of the highest number of threads. I don't believe another instrument could match it. Quote
AehrasYT Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Yeah, I guess that is true. =\ Why can't classical guitar be more popular, it's so beautiful. =( Quote
Guest BitterDuck Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 Yeah, I guess that is true. =\ Why can't classical guitar be more popular, it's so beautiful. =( I know Chopin and Schubert loved the instrument and even stated it was the most beautiful instrument. However, it is complex to write for. They are a lot of logic that is overlooked making pieces a)impossible b)utterly easy. It is hard to find that middle ground.Btw, what techinque do you use. I'm a segovia student myself. Quote
AehrasYT Posted April 30, 2006 Author Posted April 30, 2006 Paganini loved it also[he was also a virtuoso on it as well as he was on violin], I took on alot of Sor, Aguado and Giuliani's teachings and excercises. I play alot like Barrios if you have ever heard his recordings. please check out my classical guitar compositions if you don't mind. http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/Classi...tion-t2909.html http://www.youngcomposers.com/forum/Menuet...itar-t2911.html Quote
Mike Posted April 30, 2006 Posted April 30, 2006 As BitterDuck has said, there probably isn't going to be enough activity to justify the creation of a Classical Guitar forum. Writing for solo piano is a popular endeavour, which is why we have a Piano Music forum. Quote
AehrasYT Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 yeah that way we could combine all solo instruments other than piano. Quote
leightwing Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Some ideas for a heading: Music for Solo Instrument (non-piano) or Compositions for Solo Instrument (non-piano) or Music and Technical Considerations for Solo Instrument (non-piano) You might be suprised. I wonder that by creating the heading you might inspire a number of members here to consider solo writing for instruments other than piano. Quote
AehrasYT Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 Even though there are more people who love to compose for piano, There are still people who love to compose for solo instruments other than the piano. Having there own board for these other instruments could really bring some inspiration to composers here. Quote
Christopher Dunn-Rankin Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 True that - the first projects I had to do here at Oberlin were solo pieces. I did mine for oboe and violin. I think that solo writing for monophonic instruments is one of the hardest things to do. Quote
AehrasYT Posted May 1, 2006 Author Posted May 1, 2006 that's pretty true, classical guitar is polyphonic so it's somewhat easier in that sense Quote
Guest BitterDuck Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 Well, I like the solo instrument idea. I think the idea should be posted into a poll and see what everyone else things about it. Quote
M_is_D Posted May 1, 2006 Posted May 1, 2006 I myself find it perfect; the administrators should approve it :shifty: Quote
AehrasYT Posted May 2, 2006 Author Posted May 2, 2006 hey, i helped =p like i said if it gets put in place i wouldn't mind moderating or doing critiques. Quote
Mike Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 On the subject of turning the Piano Music forum into one for solo instruments, the moderating team is kind of undecided. There's a valid argument for both sides. Having said that, I'll start a poll to try to gauge opinion on this matter among the members. Quote
leightwing Posted May 2, 2006 Posted May 2, 2006 Actually, the idea was to have a separate forum for non-piano solo instruments. Quote
AehrasYT Posted May 3, 2006 Author Posted May 3, 2006 Actually, the idea was to have a separate forum for non-piano solo instruments. Right, Since you are all correct the piano is more popular. We could still at least have a seperate "solo-instrument' board for the less popular solo instruments. Quote
Mike Posted May 3, 2006 Posted May 3, 2006 Actually, the idea was to have a separate forum for non-piano solo instruments. We'd rather widen the scope of an existing forum than create a new one. It's just more efficient. Quote
